Beginning September 14
- Explore the Kansas Union Gallery exhibit of the original story artwork and visual history of the origins of the 1920 Jayhawk. 

In-person tickets are limited for this event due to COVID-19 safety protocols. We ask that you reserve your spot to join the festivities in person.

Jayhawk Birthday, A Nesting Story

Jayhawk Birthday, A Nesting Story, is an illustrated fiction for Jayhawks of all ages. The book reveals how the 1920 mascot came to find a home at KU.

Illustrated by Rachel Lewis and written by David Mucci, the KU Memorial Union Director.

Let the Birthday Celebration Begin!

September 17  |  3pm

A birthday party, cake & refreshments, and a brief ceremony marking the contributions of Mr. Ascher, the artist, the mascot, and the UDK will take place at 3 pm on Ascher Plaza as part of SUA’s Tea at Three.

Join the KU Memorial Union for this once in a lifetime event as we celebrate the 100th birthday of the 1920 Jayhawk.

While you're there, be sure to snap a selfie with the bronzed statue of Talons!
