Union Programs: Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA)

In its ongoing efforts to bring future Jayhawks to KU while learning valuable leadership skills, Union Programs works in partnership with Rotary International to present an annual summer Rotary Youth Leadership Academy. RYLA exists to provide Kansas high school students with a fun and educational week-long camp covering topics that include:

  • Leadership development
  • Team dynamics and working through differences
  • Inclusive thinking and social justice
  • Interaction with KU students, campus leaders, and community leaders and professionals

Traditionally held on the KU Lawrence campus in June, the annual summer RYLA camp runs for one week. Now nationally recognized by Rotary as the flagship program and model for RYLA camps across the United States, Union Programs looks forward to serving leadership-minded Kansas high school students in their development each year while introducing such high-potential students to KU and to Lawrence.
