One Big Thanks

The Big Event, a non-need-based student group, bridges KU and the Lawrence community. Thousands of volunteers from students, faculty, and staff unite for a day of service, expressing gratitude to the community. By tackling projects in neighborhoods, The Big Event offers a helping hand to enhance the lives of Lawrence residents.

We had 636 registrants a 17% increase from spring to fall, with 70% day of attendance.

Learning with Lawrence

We implemented The Big Event Volunteer Award that recognizes one chapter from each Sorority and Fraternity governing council and two registered student organizations committed to helping the Lawrence community.

Working at Jobsites

56% of the job site managers were 65 years or older. 26% of the job sites were returners for the last 3 consecutive years.
