DeBruce Center Exhibits
The Rules Gallery
The DeBruce Center is home to the original rules of basketball written by Dr. James Naismith. This exhibit also features a biography of Naismith, Phog Allen, and the iconic Wall of Quotes.
The Naismith Statue
Dr. Naismith sits with his basketball and peach basket on a stone bench outside of the DeBruce Center, welcoming visitors to come sit beside him. The statue was sculpted by the recognized sculptor and KU professor Elden Tefft and his son Kim.
At Home on the Hill
Just past the Roasterie coffee shop at the DeBruce Center, there is an enormous exhibit made up of 13 glass panels portraying the story of the beginnings of basketball and KU's intimate connection to the sport.
Waving the Wheat Wall
Just to the northwest of the DeBruce Center front doors, there is an outdoor patio flanked by an outdoor exhibit that boasts possibly the world’s largest depiction of a wheat field.
The DeBruce Theater
Just past the Rules Gallery and just inside the Fieldhouse itself lies a theater. Tucked behind a sign made up of a large piece of the Fieldhouse court from years ago, this theater provides a comfortable, quiet space to view these video clips of seasons gone by, traditions explained, and the love story that is KU basketball.
