At Home On The Hill

Entering the front door of the DeBruce Center, visitors can just make out the Rules Gallery where Naismith’s original rules of basketball reside. But between them and the Gallery is the Rules Concourse, which serves to raise their level of excitement as they approach the Gallery. Just past the Roasterie coffee shop is an enormous exhibit made up of 13 glass panels, each standing ten feet high and over four feet wide. The exhibit is alive with stories of basketball’s beginnings and KU’s intimate connection to the sport.

Visitors are treated to larger-than-life images of KU’s more famous players, stories of the program’s early days and its more recent successes. Information about Dr. Naismith’s time in the U.S. military during two early 20th century wars all the way to KU’s contemporary coaching tree that seems to shade the entire country.
