Matthew Garrett
"If I had to describe my job in three words, it would be "all about people". I chose these three words because that's what my favorite thing about KU Dining is; the people! Not only am I grateful to have so many coworkers who I can call my friends, but I also have the privilege to be one of the first faces people see on campus when they come to tour. I can be the person that makes someone's day on campus be just a little bit better."

E-Verify confirms employment authorization of all newly hired employees and most existing employees through an electronic database maintained by the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security. For new hires, the E-Verify process is completed in conjunction with the Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification on or before the first day of work. E-Verify is not used as a tool to pre-screen candidates. For up-to-date information on E-Verify, go to www.uscis.gov and click on 'E-Verify' located near the bottom of the page.
At the Memorial Union, we prioritize the well-being of our employees and understand the importance of affordable healthcare. Each year, during open enrollment, we evaluate the new insurance rates to ensure that our employees receive the best possible coverage. Despite the rising costs, we are committed to keeping this benefit affordable for our team. In fact, we contribute over 50% towards each insurance option.
At the Memorial Union, we believe in recognizing and rewarding our employees' hard work and dedication. With each budget cycle, measured from July to June, we prioritize our employees' rate of pay. You can expect consistent cost-of-living adjustments (COLA) announced with the start of each budget year. But we don't stop there! We also provide performance incentives in the form of one-time payments to recognize exceptional achievements. Additionally, we foster a culture of internal promotions, offering increased responsibility and correlated pay as employees progress in their careers with us.
We value the long-term financial security of our employees. After one year of employment, all full-time and part-time non-student employees are eligible to receive a 7.5% contribution to their established retirement plan. To qualify for this employer contribution, employees simply need to contribute 5% of their pre-tax rate. It's our way of investing in your future and ensuring a stable retirement.
Your well-being matters to us, both inside and outside of work. That's why we offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to all our employees. This comprehensive program provides access to free counseling sessions, emergency services advice, and legal assistance for both you and your dependents. This confidential service is available 24/7, ensuring that you have the support you need, whenever you need it.
As a full-time employee, you become eligible for benefits after completing two full months of employment. This includes enrolling in our comprehensive health insurance and participating in our retirement plan. The company's contribution towards your retirement begins after one year of employment, setting you on the path towards long-term financial stability.
Join our team at the Memorial Union, where we not only prioritize your professional growth but also your overall well-being. We're committed to providing competitive benefits that enhance your life and empower you to thrive.
